APconnections NetEqualizer October 2005 Newsletter
Well summer is gone and the NetEqualizer product family continues to grow around the world. We will be counting our 500th unique customer soon this fall. And AirEqualizer continues to gain recognition in the Wireless industry.
In this months issue we will detail an exciting new feature and provide information about existing features that you will find useful.
New Feature: Virtual Equalizing
This new feature allows you to provide NetEqualizer technology on multiple trunks from a centralized location. The new NetEqualizer Virtual Equalizing feature allows a single NetEqualizer to do the work of several without buying additional hardware. Now you can group users into logical trunks, by IP address, and apply equalizing technology to each logical group. NetEqualizer continues to bring significant advantages to your network and to your users. For information on this feature please check out our mini white paper at:

Did you know about: Auto block and re-direct?
Did you know that NetEqualizer has the ability to
block and re-direct un-authorized users on your
network to a web site of your choice?
The NetEqualizer's built in firewall utility can be
programmed to only allow users with known MAC addreses into your network. For example, you can route
unauthorized users to a website for info on how they
can sign up for your service
Global Connection Limits, a free pass for users deemed too important.
And finally many of our customers have been asking for a way to provide an exception to global connection limits.
Global connection limits allow you to prevent any user on your network from talking to more than a pre defined number of connections (web sites). This feature is essential for thwarting large p2p abusers and also some forms of worms and attacks. Although the connection limits work smashingly well, there are occasions when an installation needed an exemption from the global rule. Well we now have the ability to do that below are the details.
Simply make sure you create “individual” connection limits prior to adding your global connection limits. If you already have global connection limits in place then remove them and re-add them in after you have created new individual connection limits.
The individual ones will override the global setting regardless if they are higher or lower. A scenario of using this feature is setting an individual high connection limit on a web server in your network, while setting a lower global connection limit on all other individual users.
