NetEqualizer May Newsletter: Contest Winner, Improvements and More Bragging

In the April Edition:

1) Ideas Take Flight! Contest Winner!
2) New Products, New Features
3) Making Waves in Skype Detection
4) Universities Switch to NetEqualizer
5) Catching up to our CEO

Ideas Take Flight! Contest Winner!

NetEqualizer user Mike Zook of Citi-Net has been chosen as the winner of the first annual "Ideas Take Flight!" contest.

Mike uses NetEqualizer in his public Wi-Fi applications in hotels and apartment buildings.

He suggested: a router that could load balance over multiple DSL accounts, shape traffic and authenticate, and add in access point monitoring.

APconnections is already doing a feasibility study based on Mike's suggestion. It's sounding like it might be doable.

Aloha, Mike!

New Products, New Features

NetEqualizer now optionally comes with a four-port version: two WAN inputs and two LAN inputs. This feature is in response to many customers systems that have two separate feeds coming out of their firewall.

NetEqualizer can now preserve both streams without mixing the data, while at the same time shaping the combined stream.

Article Makes Waves, CEO Tapped For Follow-On Skype Shaping Critical, Controversial

Art Reisman was asked by Ziff-Davis Publications to write an article on Skype Detection for Extreme VoIP. It was titled "Analysis: Blocking Skype Won't Be Easy." It was then analyzed in the ZDTnet blog by Russell Shaw in an article called: "Think Skype traffic is easily detectable? No it's not, expert tester says." Art's article is resonating as we speak through the blogosphere.

Those postings drew a large response and now Art has been tapped to write a follow-on story about the politics of blocking VOIP calls. Blocking is a tricky issue, but Art made it seem simple. We're sure he can do the same with the "sticky" issue of the politics!
