Spring Hiking

As March rolls in, we are starting to see the first hints of spring here in Colorado. Between the unpredictable late-winter snowstorms and the beautiful sunny days, We've managed to get out on the trails to enjoy the changing seasons.

While the weather begins to warm up, our development team has been inside working hard to bring you our next software update. We are excited to announce that Release 10.5 is now generally available!

We continue to work with you to solve some of your most pressing network problems - so if you have one that you would like to discuss with us, please call or email us anytime at 303.997.1300 x103 or sales@apconnections.net.

Release 10.5 Overview

We are happy to announce that Release 10.5 is now available! We recommend that all customers upgrade to 10.5 to ensure that you are up on the latest security tweaks and program enhancements.

Release 10.5:

  • Debian Distro Updates: Updated the apt sources list for the Debian Distro and included 98 package updates.
  • New TCP Ping Program: A new ping program for command-line use. The older one used UDP and was not always working when troubleshooting network issues to the management port. This one uses TCP.
  • CPU Temperature Monitoring: Added a new program to show CPU core temps for users who want to see or monitor those.
  • Optimized DNS Processing: Disabled a routine that was slowing down processing on really busy systems with slow DNS responses from their chosen DNS server.
  • 10Gig Network Card Tweak: Fixed a routine that maps interrupts for the high-speed 10gig network cards.
  • Command-Line Email: Added the ability to email a file of your choosing via a new Python script from the command line. Tested with Google's Gmail (requires two-factor security and an APP password). This should work with a company email server if it allows relays from devices like the NetEqualizer.
  • Log Optimization: Quieted down some of the Journalctl logged messages to save on log space which resides in RAM.
  • Version Update: Changed the version to 10.5.

Software update Release 10.5 is available to all customers that are current on NetEqualizer Software & Support (NSS). If you would like to upgrade to Release 10.5, please contact us at (303)997-1300.
